Frequently Asked Questions
What is solution-focused hypnotherapy?
Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that combines the principles of solution-focused therapy and hypnosis to help clients achieve their goals by focusing on their strengths and solutions rather than dwelling on problems.
How does solution-focused hypnotherapy work?
In solution-focused hypnotherapy, the therapist guides clients into a relaxed state of hypnosis, where they can access their subconscious mind. Positive suggestions and imagery are used to promote desired behavioural changes and encourage a solution-oriented mind-set.
What types of issues can be addressed with solution-focused hypnotherapy?
Solution-focused hypnotherapy can be effective in addressing a wide range of issues, including stress management, anxiety, phobias, weight management, smoking cessation, and enhancing confidence and self-esteem.
How long are solution-focused hypnotherapy sessions?
A session typically last around 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the individual's needs and the complexity of the issue being addressed.
How many sessions are usually required to see results?
Most clients usually see a positive change in around 8 to 10 sessions, but the number of sessions required may vary depending on the individual and the nature of their concern. Some clients may experience positive changes in just a few sessions, while others may benefit from more extended support.
Is hypnosis safe?
Yes, hypnosis is a safe and natural state of focused attention. During hypnosis, clients remain in control and aware of their surroundings. The hypnotherapist acts as a guide, facilitating positive changes within the client's mind.
Can everyone be hypnotised?
Generally, most people can be hypnotised to some degree. The level of responsiveness to hypnosis may vary from person to person, but most individuals can benefit from solution-focused hypnotherapy techniques.
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No, during hypnosis, you remain in control and will not do anything against your values or beliefs. Hypnosis is a collaborative process, and the client's consent and cooperation are essential.
How does solution-focused hypnotherapy differ from traditional hypnotherapy?
Traditional hypnotherapy may focus more on exploring past experiences, while solution-focused hypnotherapy concentrates on the present and future, emphasising positive change and practical solutions.
